PRACTICAL ORGANISATION
Theory
-Theoretical
courses - 6 evenings of 3 hours in Brussels
Small groups of maximum 8 people working interactively. All material
will be at your disposal including course book, cards, documentation,
recommended readings and new on-line exercices

Practical
application
4 days at sea -
Application of the contents of the theoretical classes.
Crew of 6 students maximum on board.
Everyone will
participate in running the boat and in preparing course passage.
The final target is the ability for everyone to become a fully learned
skipper

Part - Functioning of a sailing craft
Sailing trim and tack
Manoeuvring with engine
Entering and leaving the harbour
Manoeuvres - vocabulary - knots
Second Part - Navigation
Position by bearings (maps, buoyage, distance and speed, direcction
and angle)
Courses (tides, currents, dead reckoning, passage preparation
International collision regulations
Safety on board
Skipper - Responsability - Accidents - Man over Board - Heavy
Weather - Distress - Weather forecasting principles and outside
information - radio - usage of VHF radio. |
Practical application - 28 hours
Functioning of a sailing craft

Manoeuvring with motor
Mooring the craft in different circumstances
Navigation
Study and usage of numerous nautical documents
Maps, almanacs, signalisation, weather forecast, buoyage, ...
Dead Reckoning

All aspects of sailing will be addressed by everyone
Everyone will take turn being the skipper |

RATES
The
rate of the tuition is 890 EURO
The reservation is effective upon receipt of a down payment
of 50 % of the total amount of Sail Away account. Account number: 651-1369337-91
with your name as reference
The rate includes:
- 18 hours theoretical tuition in small groups of 8 people maximum
- 4 days at sea (spread at your convenience over several week-ends)
with
a crew of 6 students max.
- Course book comprising a manual of exercices
- Individual insurance for navigation at sea
- Harbour expenses and fuel
- Sailing equipment
